The 72km Queen Charlotte Track stretches from Ship Cove to Anakiwa and runs alongside Furneaux Lodge. It is open to walkers all year round and mountain bikers from 1 March to 30 November.
As you walk or bike the Queen Charlotte Track you’ll pass through historic sites, secluded bays, stunning skyline ridges looking over Queen Charlotte Sound and Kenepuru Sound, and lush coastal bush.
Because Marlborough enjoys a temperate climate, the Queen Charlotte Track is can be enjoyed all year round. Most visitors choose to walk the whole track, or sections of the track, from north to south.
As a multi-day track, many Queen Charlotte Track visitors stay at Furneaux for their first night or base themselves here at the lodge and walk any section of the track each day using water transfers to there and/or get back each night.
Walkers and mountain bikers who use the Queen Charlotte Track between Punga Cove and Anakiwa are required to purchase a Queen Charlotte Track Land Cooperative (QCTLC) Pass. The fees are $12 for a day pass or $18 ($24 from June) for a five-day pass. School children are free. No pass is needed for the section of track between Ship Cove/Meretoto to Punga Cove.
Because the Queen Charlotte Track passes directly by Furneaux Lodge’s gate, we are a great location to base yourself at and explore sections of the track, or stay a night during your full track experience.
